Connecting Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager is a tag management system (TMS) that lets you quickly and easily update measurement codes and related code snippets — known as "tags" — on your store, without editing your store's code every time. Zimam gives you a dedicated field to link your GTM container to your store.
This feature is available on the Pro plan and above. If your current plan doesn't include it, the app card will show as locked with an upgrade option instead of the setup screen.
Connect your GTM container
- From the dashboard sidebar, open the Pixels section.
- Find the Google Tag Manager card and click Open App.
- In the Google Tag Manager ID field, enter your container ID in the
GTM-XXXXXXXformat (e.g.,GTM-K6XW7H). You'll find this ID in your Google Tag Manager account. - Click Save GTM Settings.
A success message appears once the save completes; if it fails (e.g. a connection issue), an error message appears and the value you entered stays in the field so you can retry.
What this setting does
Once you save a container ID, Zimam automatically loads the Google Tag Manager container on your storefront pages. From your GTM account you can then:
- Add and publish multiple tracking tags (Google Analytics, Google Ads, or other tracking tools) without touching your store's code each time.
- Update or pause any tag directly from the GTM interface, independent of your Zimam settings.
Good to know
- The field holds one container ID per store; saving a new one replaces the old one.
- Connecting GTM doesn't add any tracking tags by itself — it only opens the channel through which you manage your tags via your own Google Tag Manager account.
- Other pixels you may have set up in Zimam (Facebook, TikTok, Google Analytics, etc.) are completely separate from GTM and aren't affected by connecting or disconnecting it.
