Connecting Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a web analytics service from Google that tracks and reports on your website traffic — how many visitors you get, which pages they view, and where they came from. Zimam gives you a dedicated field to link your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID to your store.
This feature is available on every plan, including the free tier.
Connect your measurement ID
- From the dashboard sidebar, open the Pixels section.
- Find the Google Analytics card and click Open App.
- In the Measurement ID field, enter your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID in the
G-XXXXXXXformat (e.g.,G-XXXXXXX). You'll find this ID in your Google Analytics account, under the Data Stream settings for your site. - Click Save GA Settings.
A success message appears once the save completes; if it fails (e.g. a connection issue), an error message appears and the value you entered stays in the field so you can retry.
What it tracks
Once you save a measurement ID, Zimam automatically loads the Google tag (gtag.js) on every page of your storefront, which sends the following to your Google Analytics account:
- Automatic page views on every storefront page.
- Standard GA4 ecommerce events matching the events Zimam already tracks on your store:
view_itemwhen a product page is viewed.add_to_cartwhen an item is added to the cart.begin_checkoutwhen checkout starts.purchasewhen an order is confirmed.
Each of these events is sent with the relevant product data (ID, name, price) and your store's currency, so conversion details show up in your Google Analytics reports with no extra setup once the ID is saved.
Good to know
- The field holds one measurement ID per store; saving a new one replaces the old one.
- Connecting Google Analytics here is completely independent from Google Tag Manager — connecting or disconnecting one has no effect on the other.
- Other tracking pixels in Zimam (Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.) are entirely independent and aren't affected by connecting or disconnecting Google Analytics.
