Fake Order Guard

Fake Order Guard automatically watches new orders coming into your store and helps you cut down on fraudulent or prank orders. It scores every new order's pattern and flags the suspicious ones before they get confirmed or shipped.

Where to find it

  1. From the dashboard, open the Apps & Integrations section.
  2. Find the "Fake OrderGuard" card and click "Configure Settings".
  3. If this feature isn't included in your current plan, the card shows as locked with "Not included in current plan" — clicking it takes you straight to the upgrade page.

What it looks at

For every incoming order, the guard checks several signals together to decide how risky it is:

  • How many orders came from the same phone number or the same device/connection in a short window.
  • Unusual fan-out patterns — one phone number used across many different connections, or one connection behind many different phone numbers.
  • The quality of the entered name (obvious keyboard-mashing patterns, or placeholder text like "test").
  • The customer's history — if their phone number or connection has been linked to orders your team has manually confirmed as fake before.
  • Blocked IP addresses are rejected immediately at checkout, independently of every other setting on this page (managed from the separate "Blacklist Manager" app).

No single signal decides on its own — the guard combines them into one risk score per order, and once an order crosses a certain risk level it's automatically flagged.

Turning protection on or off

This switch is available on any plan that includes the app, regardless of protection tier:

  • Enable Fake Order Protection — shows an "Active" or "Inactive" badge next to it.
  • Turn it off if you want to accept every order without any fraud checking.

⚠️ Turning this off stops every check completely — including the advanced ones, even if they're switched on.

Advanced checks

If your plan includes Advanced Guard, you'll see an extra switch labeled "Advanced checks":

  • Turned on, the full risk engine runs with every signal above.
  • Turned off, your store still stays protected by the basic checks only, using Zimam's platform defaults instead of the custom limits you set below.

Tuning the limits (Advanced Guard plans only)

Without Advanced Guard, you only get the on/off switch above, plus a panel that reads "Custom settings require Advanced Guard" with an "Upgrade plan" button. Turning protection on or off stays available on your current plan either way.

With Advanced Guard you can tune:

  • Number of Accepted Orders — choose 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10. Any order beyond this count from the same customer within the protection period gets flagged.
  • Protection Period — the time window used to monitor orders from the same device/connection. Pick one of the presets (1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days) or choose "Custom" and enter a value in hours or days.

Example: set "Number of Accepted Orders" to 3 and "Protection Period" to 1 day, and a 4th order arriving from the same phone number or device within 24 hours gets flagged as suspicious.

Once you've set your values, click "Save Protection Settings" — you'll see a confirmation message once it saves successfully.

What to do with a flagged order

Orders the guard flags show up under the "Flagged" tab in your orders list. Being flagged doesn't automatically reject the order — it stays there waiting for your review:

  • Review the order and call the customer to confirm it before you confirm or hand it off to a delivery company.
  • If it turns out to be fake, cancel it from the dashboard so it doesn't get confirmed or shipped by mistake.
  • If it turns out to be genuine, go ahead and confirm/ship it as usual.

Good to know

  • Your Advanced Guard tuning (accepted orders and protection period) stays saved even if you temporarily drop to a plan without Advanced Guard, and it applies automatically again the moment you upgrade back.
  • IP blocking is fully independent of this page and keeps working even if you turn Fake Order Guard off entirely.
